Hair Photography

NAHA & SWHA

I'm a hair nerd. Creatively lighting avant garde and color styling for competition gives me goosebumps.

It's important to take your time on set and make sure that each stray hair is attended to as minimal photoshopping can be done for competition.

I've collaborated in finalist entries, so I understand that it's equal amounts of poetry, skill, planning and team that complete a collection. Photographing hair is an art form in itself, and having a clear vision of your message is imperative. Having the right models, location, and communication can make or break an entry.

MODERN SALON gives my favorite piece of advice: "Keep submission photos simple, polished and clean with the focus being the styles you create to showcase your abilities as an artist. Don’t rely on props to carry your images, or let them be the focus of your NAHA shoot."
